Fans of professional sports-entertaining will be disappointed this weekend due to the last-minute cancellation of “WrestlingMania,” the annual pay-per-view spectacular of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
Although WWE has officially cited “unforeseen difficulties beyond our control” as the reason for cancelling the event — including “climate change, inflation, and astrological harbingers of doom” — numerous credible sources reveal that the cancellation is due to abysmal ticket sales.
Fewer than 400 tickets have reportedly been sold for the sports-entertainment spectacular, which was expected to draw a cumulative crowd of more than 200,000 to the AT&T Stadium near Dallas over two nights.
Joey Janela’s Spring Break 2022, meanwhile, drew an overflow crowd of more than 93,172, just one person shy of the record set by WrestleMania 3.
