World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announced this morning a significant change to WrestleMania this Sunday, moving the much-hyped rematch between Brock Lesnar and Goldberg to the pre-show.
At a hastily assembled press conference this morning at the company’s Connecticut headquarters, WWE COO Hunter Hearst Helmsley said the change was made to accommodate for a one-hour “Ironman” match pitting Nikki Bella and John Cena against Maryse and The Miz.
“This is best for business,” said Helmsley. “We listen to the WWE Universe, and they have resoundingly said that they want mixed-gender tag matches to be much longer.”
The winner of the mixed tag match will be determined by which team can score the most pinfalls over the other in 60-minutes, though most experts believe the match will be so close that it will go into multiple overtimes.
Because the pre-show is already quite packed, the Lesnar-Goldberg match will be given a five-minute time limit, which is 4 minutes and 22 seconds longer than Goldberg has wrested in the past decade.
