Former professional wrestler Bill Goldberg says in-ring career was cut tragically short when his foot was “irreparably damaged” by an especially “stiff” headbutt delivered by opponent Bret Hart.

“I had an amazing winning streak until that clumsy so-called Hitman recklessly rammed his head into my right foot,” Goldberg told Kayfabe News.

The incident in question happened at Starrcade ’99, when Hart targeted the already-injured arch of Goldberg’s right foot, which Goldberg injured during his football career with the Atlanta Braves.

Goldberg’s wrestling career quickly fizzled after the attack, which resulted in long-term plantar fasciitis in his right foot; Bret Hart, meanwhile, claims the maneuver also hurt his own head.

Goldberg remains bitter about the foot injury: “Bret Hart didn’t belong in the ring — he couldn’t tell a wristlock from a wristwatch.”
