Fans of professional boxing and wrestling alike are abuzz today after the announcement that WWE Hall of Famers Mike Tyson and Ric Flair will come out of retirement to square off at WrestleMania — potentially as soon as 2030.
Tyson, who recently almost didn’t totally lose a boxing match to Logan Paul’s idiot brother, will be 64 years old by the time of his match with Flair, who will have just celebrated his 105th birthday.
Although WWE has neither confirmed nor denied the rumor, Flair reportedly confirmed the news, loudly and slurredly, to a bunch of annoyed patrons trying to ignore him in the Delta VIP lounge of the Charlotte Airport.
Wrestler-versus-boxer matches are rare but not unprecedented; longtime fans will remember the five-star match between Muhammed Ali and Antonio Inoki, which Ali won via split-legged corkscrew moonsault.
Netflix is reportedly planning a three-part documentary series to hype the match, which will deceive audiences into thinking the match won’t be boring and sad.
