World Wrestling Entertainment has announced that tonight’s episode of its long-running flagship show, Monday Night Raw, will be a rerun.
Citing the “logistical nightmares” of creating a new, three-hour live broadcast every single Monday, the company issued a press release today stating that it is “taking the week off.”
Staring at 8pm EDT tonight, WWE will re-broadcast a popular episode from that originally aired on May 23, 2005.
Filmed in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the “Encore Episode” (as WWE is branding the new series of reruns) features such fan-favorite segments as:
- Lita confronts Kane about her abduction and presumed rape
- Muhammad Hassan & Daivari face Shelton Benjamin in a handicap match
- Sylvain Grenier quickly taps out to Chris Jericho’s Walls of Jericho
- Tajiri squares off against a blurred out, unnamed mass of pixels that bears a passing resemblance to Chris Benoit
WWE returns to its regular live programming next Monday, although due to the ongoing feud between the Bella Twins, it might feel like a rerun as well.
