A consumer survey revealed this week that the vast majority of Zack Ryder action figures in existence are currently owned by the WWE superstar they depict.
Ryder, a wide-eyed manchild who enjoys bright colors and spiking his hair, admits that he has a “kind of obsessive” impulse to own every piece of merchandise on earth that bears his likeness.
“I gotta collect ‘em all!” Ryder said during a recent edition of his popular YouTube show, Z! True Long Island Story, standing in a room of his home overflowing with thousands of plastic wrestling dolls.
A popular but underutilized mid-card talent, Ryder has gone deep into debt by purchasing all the action figures, even though he does receive some royalties from sales of his merchandise.
Like most addicts, Ryder insists he could “quit at any time,” but the order he recently placed for 8,000 WWE “Elite Collection” Zack Ryder Action Figures (with removable headband and sunglasses) indicates otherwise.
He is scheduled to appear on the new A&E reality series “Celebrity Hoarders” in the fall.
